When helping students learn and understand material I believe it is important to first gain the student's trust, so they will not resist receiving help. I am a recent college graduate and find that it is easier to relate to, communicate with, and gain the trust of students, since I was in their position not long ago. Once the individual's trust is gained I will assess their learning style and determine the obstacles they are having with grasping the material. I like to have an open discusion about a topic based upon homework and reading assignments. I use examples to illustrate how accounting items are handled. I encourage questions during the session and will provide questions to see if concepts are undefrstood.
I taught two quarters at Tiffin University, East Cleveland, Ohio campus a course called "Legal Issues for Managers." I was requested to teach a course via computer, but declined since I was moving to Charrlotte, NC. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.
While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina.
