I have earned a PhD in philosophy from the University of Virginia, and taught at the university level at Virginia Tech, UVA, Hampden-Sydney College, West Point, and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke for ten years. At Duke University, I majored in environmental science and policy, with a minor in economics. After working for three years for non-profits, I decided medicine was more aligned with my interests.
