Solve ALL your problems with a math tutor!

While completing my degree, I worked in the math department as a tutor. I often had several students with various subjects simultaneously. It was a challenge to constantly switch topics, but I apparently did it so well that I almost had a regular class that showed up every time I was on duty. Several students told me that I explained things on a level they could understand as opposed to the high-level language the professor used. I have also done private tutoring since then.
I generally work through an example while explaining. Then as the student works the problems, I instruct by asking prompting questions with decreasing frequency until the student can complete problems without any assistance.

For the 2011-2012 school year, I was a math tutor for Charles E. Nash Elementary school in Ft. worth/TX. In the evening and on weekend, I also tutor students in grade level ranging from 4th graders to college students. The most effective methods for teaching math to any students level is to make it relevant, connect math content to every days' life. Everyone needs help now and again!

I've either taught or tutored in some form or fashion for over 17yrs now. I've had ages 3yrs to 22yrs old covering all manner of subjects and hobbies. Struggles with math or reading

Teaching children is something that brings me joy. Watching them make strides and connections in their learning makes me smile. I currently teach preschool to children with many different cognitive, behavioral, medical, sensory, and emotional needs.
