I taught introductory zoology lab to freshman at Mississippi State University. Then I served in the Peace Corps where I taught daily 13 3 year olds to 15 year olds English, mathematics, and arts and crafts. I also taught basic library skills to all the elementary school classes.

I directed a successful research program for many years, during which time I taught and mentored several college and high school students in both the classroom and laboratory.
I prefer to help my students make discoveries on their own. It seems to me that a good teacher is there to guide and point a student in a way that will help him learn truths. These learned truths become much more than a set of facts to be memorized. Rather, they are ideas and concepts that have been discovered by the student, and as such treasured and considered precious.
