The reason I chose to go to school for my teaching certificate is that I've always been passionate about learning. I think the best teachers are excited to constantly learn new things. For thirteen years I was the Program Director of a scientifically proven, direct instruction, reading tutoring program for below grade level readers in 4 Seattle elementary schools. We tutored up to 210 students daily. My program was approved by the State of Washington as an SES program for failing schools, which I directed for one year.
