I have worked with children for 30 years. I understand the elementary level reading progam having subbed for teachers, teaching assistants and reading teachers for 2 years. I taught pre-reading skills to 3 year old children for 8 years in a local preschool. I am 3/4 of the way through my Teaching Assistant Certification. I have an adult son with ADD and have struggled right along with him throughout his school years. I fought for/with him to get the appropriate learning needs for him. Over the years, I have had the ability to work in various grade levels in various school districts. During my student teaching I had the chance to teach first and fourth grade. After graduating, I subbed in many school districts throughout the Capital Region. I worked as a teacher's assistant in a self-contained classroom serving children between first and third grade. As a recent student, I am very familiar with what it feels like to be in the position a lot of the students are in right now. At the same time, I understand the best method about how to approach understanding the material in the easiest manner possible. The key is patience and practice. My inaugural teaching experience was as an HEOP tutor for introductory physics.
