For Science and Math I employ an inquiry-based method of teaching/exploration. This allows for more meaningful learning and gives the student the opportunity to learn on his or her own before being given instruction by the teacher. For Language Arts, reading, and Spanish, I teach by individualizing instruction to each child, allowing for meaning-making and communication rather than simply rote learning of facts and vocabulary. The skills you use to teach yourself the material can be directly applied to someone else, especially when you find something does not click at first. In college I don't tutor professionally because of time constraints, but I help other students understand problems they may be having difficulty with.
