I foster development of the whole student by encouraging critical thinking. My methods are adjusted to meet the students needs with an individualized approach. My goal is to promote self learning and help students develop necessary critical thinking skills. I am a full-time high school teacher with over 12 years of experience in education. I specialize in Science, but have experience teaching and tutoring most levels and subjects. Throughout my 12 years in public education I have developed many skills to accommodate various student needs. I have a love for learning and inspiring my students to be life-long learners by making content meaningful. When I taught sailing to young kids, I used to dress up like a pirate. I have lots of energy. I know I'm doing my job right when kids start laughing. When I taught to teenagers, I kept in mind my own experiences at that age. If I'm helping a student study hard on that big, important test that might have the ability to crush the student's soul - I bust out my acoustic guitar and sing about how It's The End of The World As We Know It (And This Test Means Very Little In The Long Run). I recently graduated cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with two Bachelors of Science in Marine Geology and Maritime Law. I teach sailing and environmental education in the summers. This means very little however as I aspire, one day, to become a lighthouse keeper. Sadly, few can find such a position these days. I enjoy writing, science, mathematics, literature and most all music.

I have always been extremely focused on education, both my own and that of others. Although I considered education as a career, I instead opted to major in psychology, in which I earned a BA in 2007. I also hold an AA in Liberal Studies. I have been in a school environment as my favorite pass time was to spend with children. Math is my favorite course. I helped students achieve good grip on calculations and solving problems. In Short- Teaching kids gives me peace and satisfaction in life. Math is fun. Teaching math is more fun.
