A Little Bit About Me...

I am a big believer in real life examples and visual cues. I write every little detail so that one can always look back to their notes and have no problem revising. Courses such as biology and psychology are comprised of a ton of theory, therefore diagrams, frequent quizzes and examples play an integral part to learning. I describe the lengthy terms and processes by breaking them down, drawing and explaining the origin of the words. On the other hand, mathematics and statistics require consistent practice. I solve the tougher questions and show the correct way to display one's work. Speaking from experience, most students make mistakes because they do not write the solution correctly. This is a chance to learn material in an environment that doesn't bear the pressures and stresses of the classroom and achieving a certain grade. In my 6 years of teaching experience I’ve come to find out that there is no such thing as a “stupid question.” Each child or adult has a specific way of learning according to their own character. That’s the reason some are faster to learn mathematical concepts while others are faster in literary concepts. I believe in going slow and asking my students to explain what they’ve learned in their own words. If they can do this easily it means they have mastered the concepts. I usually encourage pre-reading before tutoring sessions. A student who has read the chapter ahead will absorb information more easily than one who has not read ahead.
