I have been teaching piano and voice for almost 15 years. I started at the age of 5 taking piano lessons and the age of 12 with voice. I majored in musical performance in college, but left early to pursue a career in a Broadway Touring Company of Les Miz. From 1996-2014 I've been a professional singer and actor in many different shows and venues. I have 3 children and have been married for 10 years. I love working with people to build confidence.

I began teaching private guitar, bass, and music theory lessons when I was 16 years old. I have continued to do so until present day. My emphasis for my Masters was Theory/Composition/Arranging. My primary instruments are guitar and bass, although I went to college on a French Horn scholarship. I have played professionally with a wide arrange of ensembles, from a three piece acoustic trio to a ten piece big band. classical music to folk to dixieland to swing to gospel to rock to jazz, I have pretty much played it all at some point.

I grew up with both partents in the public education system, I was a student-teacher in H.S. and I earned a bachelor degree in Parks, Recreation, Natural Resource Management with a minor in Art Education. After graduation I taught Art and pre-school classes for the Springfield, MO Parks Dept. I was a librarian at the Springfield Art Museum. I worked for the Dept. of Social Services, Div. of Youth Services for 14 years and assisted the teachers with the education ciriculum. I taught Outdoor Stress Challenge Programs to the youth in a rehabilitation program.

I have had several years experience of teaching throughout my schooling from college education, personal experience-being the oldest child/grandchild, daily experiences, and now being a parent of a young child. I've always known I would be a teacher. I loved my teachers growing up & I had a natural curiosity to know what it was like to help others. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very patient teacher. If it seems someone is 'just not getting it' I will try a different approach. People learn at different levels, and what works for one does not always work for another; therefore,finding the way for each individual student is the key. I have also found that most people learn a task by 'hands on' learning, not listening to how it should be done. In this situation, giving someone the tools to do the work themselves gives them the confidence to do it, and feel good about conquering the challenge.
As a working professional, I was driven later in life to get a degree that was started right after high school.
