What strikes me most as I look back at my education is how much of an impact a teacher can have when they make their subject relevant to their students. When I am teaching I try to find out what motivates each student as a person, in addition to what is motivating them to take the class. First, I taught adult ESL, and had occasional tutoring gigs with Russian speakers learning English, and some English speakers learning Russian. Currently, I work as a special education teacher.
