A Little Bit About Me...

Before I was a teacher, I was a one on one teacher associate with special needs children for six years. I have been teaching 8th grade special for almost three years. I have taught self contained math, reading, and language arts. I have also been in a collaborative language arts classroom. In addition to these things, I am a poet and fiction writer with a high level of experience and craft, and can assist students in expressing themselves creatively.
My approach for each class is to focus on the text and do exercises that give students the opportunity to work with the text first-hand. I focus on troublesome areas and I spend many hours planning each class. I prefer to let students come up with their own decisions, and craft their responses into the key ideas of the lesson.
