My comments on tutoring Spanish : I studied Spanish for two years in highschool, but ended up living in Spain for three (3) years.

I have 12 years experience working with the Russian language. I spent two years in school learning the language and then 10 years in the field using it! I spent 3 years in Spain working with the Russian language as a Russian analyst. I also gained invaluable experience working on Naval vessels and intercepting live Russian language from Russian/Soviet Naval ships. This experience was invaluable. During my two (2) years in school, Russian is the only subject we took. I studied 4 hours a night and ended up graduating with honors from the course in Monterey, Ca. From there, I was sent to Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo, Tx. There I studied the military version of the Russian language. I also did very well at that school. I then gained another 10 years of experience with the Russian language with the U.S. Navy intelligence.

Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. I think that a good educator is the key to success in a child's life. I can still remember my second grade teacher (Ms. Golf), she made learning fun and seemed like everyday was an adventure in her class. Sadly, not all teachers are like that. I do believe that all children learn in different ways. I think that if a child is given a chance and shown some patience, there isn't anything they can't acheive. Children should be guided in learning. They have short attention spans and I think learning should be made fun in order to hold their attention. I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade. It helped me understand the areas that I didnt and excel in the areas I did. I would like to give thas opportunity to someone else.
I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. I began my college career admitted at age 17 to a competitive Bachelor of Nursing program at Boise State University. I took courses in Science, Math, Chemistry, Psychology and Health before I transferred to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue Horticulture. BYU-I has one of the top Horticulture programs in the country (as recognized by PLANET). I competed for BYU-I as one of the front most students in 2 years of PLANET competitions.
