I am in my sixth year of teaching high school mathematics in Rural West Tennessee. I am currently teaching Geometry, and I have also taught Algebra 1 and Bridge Math. I am certified and highly qualified to teach all content areas for Grades 9-12, as well as middle school mathematics. While I was working on my masters degree, I was a Graduate Teaching Assistant for The Reading Center at The University of Tennessee at Martin. In this role, I taught developmental reading to college freshman, student athletes, and international students. I also assisted in the after-school reading/tutoring program, which serviced children from Kindergarten to high school who lived in Northwest Tennessee. I have always LOVED math! Using my undergraduate degree in accounting, I have 10 years work experience as an internal auditor and a computer accounting staff accountant for three CPA firms. I have an additional number of years of work experience as a mid-level manager of computer programmers and web developers. I have most recently been tutoring students working toward GED certification at a local adult education center.
My teaching, tutoring, style emphasizes flexibility. While there are specific learning units that should be taught and retained by the student, the flexibility of the teacher, or tutor, will assist the learning experience for the student. It is my personal goal to strive for not only specific subject material teaching, but to also teach problem solving and critical thinking to any student in my classes.
