A Little Bit About Me...

I recently earned a BS in studio art and my interests extend into math, sciences, and reading. This desire for knowledge spurred me to begin a second major in chemistry, enabling me to continue my math and science courses. Additionally I have an associates degree in graphic design. I tutored chemistry at the college level, and have helped my younger siblings with their middle school and high school homework. I have also assisted with elementary age students for years.
I enjoy working with students of all ages. I believe that every student has amazing potential that can be reached with the right help. I am easy going and patient, understanding that we all learn a little differently.

Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. I believe that I can become a better teacher only by continually challenging myself and my students. The key phrase “engaging students” seems less than what is required in the classroom. I want my students to be engaged but I want them to encompass and enjoy what they are doing as well. I love technology and new method topics; I have a very strong math and science background as well as excellent written and verbal presentation skills. I was a hands on learner and often use hands on methods to teach when possible. I have taught every level from kindergarten to college level and feel comfortable doing so.
