I am a 60-year old man who has taught every subject at every grade level as an artist in the schools for over 35 years. I currently substitute in all the grades in Hart County so I have had to demonstrate knowledge of every subject at every grade level. I have been in the classrooms of public schools every day for about 60% of my adult life. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from Oberlin College with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Math. I have tutored a lot over the years, and whereas I am comfortable handling any subject, my particular strong point is Math. I am able to find the way that students can understand the principles being learned (and this way is different for each student). In January of 2009, I moved back to the United States after living in Dusseldorf, Germany for four years. While living there, I continued my vocal studies and perfected my teaching style. Holding a BA in music, I am a vocal and beginner piano instructor. I also have three years experience with teaching English as a second language at two different language schools, one for adults, the other geared toward children. Disregarding my history, ethics, and religion expertise, my main reason for applying is my confidence in my capabilities to teach English. Basic parts of speech, syntax, grammar, organization, rhetoric, and multiple genres--from correct usage to specialized purposes (such as academic papers, business, text for oral delivery) have been mastered.
