I have proven many methods of teaching, especially in instrumental music. Through large group rehearsals and individual instruction, I have been allowed to explore many types of learning tools. Kickboxing instruction has also provided even more opportunities for diverse learning. My primary method is demonstration and 'hands-on' approach, especially with learning an instrument. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked for the past 14 years in the behavioral health care field. I have served as a mentor to a youth with behavioral/emotional issues. I hold a BA of Education with a minor in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I also hold an MSEd in Education- Counseling. I hold a current Nebraska teaching certificate and have worked with youth of all ages.
I enjoy teaching and helping youth learn. My philosophy is that all children can learn if provided the opportunity and resources that fit their learning style. I believe in positive reinforcement and praise. Children learn in many different ways, and it is an educators role to provide opportunities for children to learn through various methods. During college I had written many psychology research papers and solved an abundance of challenging math problems. I have worked at Mosaic in Axtell, NE for three years. Here I have educated clients on daily living tasks; and provided assistance with daily cares and activities. I train them to be as independent as possible. From July 15, 2010 up until September 15, 2010 I was a substitute teacher for a special education teacher who was on maternity leave. I taught the kids reading, math, oral comprehension, and vocabulary. I would say my teaching style is very thorough and repetitive. Repetition is what truly sticks information into student’s minds, despite its annoying tendencies. My middle school class would frequently complain that we had already covered something; but their test scores showed that it paid off in the long run! I am a kinesthetic learner and understand how everyone has different learning styles so I incorporate all styles when teaching a lesson. I include reading, verbal, visual and hands on learning when possible. When learning or teaching math I feel the more problems you can do the better.
