A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching in various forms for over ten years. I was a teaching assistant for four semesters in graduate school. I mentored and tutored people during my time as a Naval officer. I worked for Kaplan Inc for about a year, teaching almost all of their tests, including SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT. I taught mathematics and statistics at Parkland College for three years. I am currently employed as a full-time instructor at a government laboratory...but I'd like to teach more, in the late afternoons, evenings, and weekends!

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have always had a passion for learning and helping others. I was a Honors English student and I have a strong interest in reading and writing. I have worked as a seasonal scorer of standardized assesments for a year. I was an America Reads America Counts tutor for 1 1/2 years. I tutored youth K-12 in both reading and math. I also provided homework assistance with other subjects. I have always loved working with young people and helping them achieve their potential. I have worked with mainstream and honors students to behavior disorder and severely cognitively impaired youth. I believe there are no throw-away kids and that given the right environment and opportunities, all students can learn. My goal is to provide the best education possible and make my services become obsolete for each student.
