Throughout my undergraduate studies, I was heavily involved in volunteering and mentoring in everything from education to community outreach programs. After I received my undergraduate degree, I became a corps member in the 2003 Teach for America corps. As a corps member, I served as a member of a national service corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit two years to teach in under-resourced urban and rural public schools. I love to learn, and love passing that on to others. I am a patient personality, and I may present a problem to a student to evaluate where they are. From there, we can go either backwards or to more advanced work. Education is very important for myself and for my children, and I like to instill that learning takes you further in life than where someone may have not even dreamed. I am amazed at seeing cashiers who can't make simple change, or someone who can't calculate a small percentage in their head, such as 10% of a number. A Little Bit About Me...

I've worked with children in many differnt areas of education and with children on many different levels. My focus was on children with disabilities and speech/language disorders. I've worked with children w/developmental delays and regular education children. I've also served as a tutor to children in my area w/learning disabilities. I have a BS in Speech Pathology w/a minor in Special education and I am currently working on my MS Ed in School Counseling. I will graduate from the Univ of Southern MS in May 2011. I've tutored children in English, Math, Science, and Reading.
