I love teaching and kids. I always separate the behavior from the child. The little kids that I tutor at the Boys and Girls Club love me! I am just really good at what I do. When I was teaching, I had a stellar reputation with my students and the community. When students would come back to me from college, they would tell me how easy their college English courses were after having me in class. A Little Bit About Me...

Graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead with a degree in accounting, and a strong background of math and businesses courses has given me an excellent background in math. I also took various english and writing composition classes which has provided me with excellent communication skills. I have work for various customer service companies which has brought out my natural strength of handling human relationships. Which could prove beneficial when interacting with customers.
I believe that everyone learns in a different way so I approach teaching with a very adaptable style that adjusts to the person or people I am teaching. I love to find interesting and new ways to share information, and I find it very fullfilling to know that when I am finished teaching I have increased the opportunities for another person to succeed. It is important for me to help students understand through real world examples. I do my best to develop training material and a learning environment that is relatable to their ultimate application. Much of the training I do requires initial "buy-in" ... if a student does not believe what they are learning will have application and benefit for them, they will not be open to learn. I have a variety of teaching experience. I began teaching as a secondary Language Arts instructor with focus on reading skills, reading comprehension, interpretation of literature, and writing. I have taught students the writing process, research skills, and all areas of proofreading, editing, and revising. I have also been a tutor for homebound students at grade levels 1-12 as well as taught students in Adult Basic Education classes. I have also taught mathematics from grades 1-10 (includes algebra). I am able to teach math at levels 1-10 and all areas of Language Arts , reading, and study skills. A Little Bit About Me...

Attending a private liberal arts college taught me to push myself to be the very best I could be. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics with an emphasis on Greek, and a minor in English. I tutored for a January term Beginning Greek class, as well as whenever students stopped in the office and needed help with Greek or Latin. I have proficient language and mnemonic skills, since I studied the roots of language for 7 semesters. I enjoy proofreading and editing, and consider myself to be a "word nerd."
I worked as a camp counselor for 3 summers, and understand that everyone has different learning styles.
