I graduated from Pisgah High School where I was in the Advanced program. I was required to enroll in the Advanced Math Program (Pre-cal) and Physics. I was also a part of the Math Team for four years and the Beta Club for eight years. As a student at Northeast, I earned a A.S. in Industrial Electronics, as well as, a Long Certificate in Electronics. I've been tutoring my brother-n-law in math for the three years while enrolled at the ITT-Technical Institute in Madison, AL. I am working on obtaining my B.S. in Computer and Electronics Engineering and Technology. I currently have a GPA of 4.0.

A Little Bit About Me...

First I would like to get to know the student and parents, focusing mainly on the student's interests and goals as well as how they feel about the particular subject they will be tutored in. After that I would have the student show me where they currently are in class and what they need help with. Then, depending on the particular circumstances, I would create a plan to get the student caught up and self-sufficient as quickly as possible. Even though fast results are what I hope for, the student would set the pace of the sessions. No topics would be overlooked and they would all receive as much time as the student needs to master them.

After receiving my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I started teaching special education while pursuing my Master's degree. I completed my Master's program in 2005 and received my certification in special education in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, I also received my certification in the state of Georgia. I have a variety of experience teaching different subject areas to students with special needs in grade levels ranging from k-12. I also taught a special education class to undergrad students at Covenant College for two years. My Master’s degree is in special education with a concentration in emotional and behavioral disturbance. I have worked with students who have many different types of disabilities including behavior disorders. Working with students who have behavior disorders taught me that every student needs respect, care and patience. Every teacher needs to believe that every student can learn, including the ones that may exhibit extreme behaviors. Teaching means not only individualizing instruction so that each child can learn; but, also providing the love, respect and care that each child needs to be able to learn as well.
