I have taught private music lessons since 2006. My primary instrument is piano. I have tutored English, Math and Science for the last 3 years. My students have achieved fantastic results. Although I do not teach to tests or scores of any kind, but only to the needs I see in the student, I have been amazed at how quickly t it reflects on their scores, and more importantly, on their self-confidence and motivation. My favorite subject is reading. I am bilingual in English and Spanish.

I am firm but like to use students life experiences and hobbies to teach them subjects. Younger students I like to teach through play due to the fact that I am a firm believer that children learn through play. I have been studying education since my high school graduation in hopes of one day being the choir director at my high school.At the moment I am a student at UTEP studying bilingual elementary education and plan to receive a masters in music education after receiving my bachelors degree. I am currently a subsitute teacher and am hoping to continue helping students with their studies in the summer and weekends. In my schooland work experience I have worked with children of all grade levels and all subjects.

I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. Most of my students benefited from my teaching style which includes many examples and encourages a dialogue approach to difficult concepts. As a non-traditional student I recognize the necessity to create a level of confidence that inspires a student to continue their education with success. I feel that perspectives on learning and my life-experience make me an ideal contact for any student interested in mastering the topics of math, physics, chemistry, or Spanish. I am experienced in the grading and writing of lab reports and other technical forms of communication.

I have always loved children and work hard to make a difference in their lives. Children are very diverse learners and I believe, as teachers, we need to discover the key to what really motivates them. Every child can become successful if they are given the appropriate tools and the opportunity to learn in a way that is specific to their learning abilities. My theory of teaching is through the use of constructivism, a theory asserting that children learn by gradually making sense of their world based on a combination of their background knowledge and what they experience. I also use scaffolding, modeling, and inquiry-based teaching. I am dedicated to helping each child achieve their greatest potential. I graduated in 1999 from NMSU with a degree in Elem/Spec Education. While attending school, I worked in a group home for troubled teens and at a facility for adults with disabilities.

As a graduate student in the University of Texas in El Paso, I have been very interested in Multi-Cultural instruction. I have performed specialized studies in Curriculum Development and Classroom Management. I am also enrolled in a teacher certification program that has prepared me with the knowledge and experiance for classroom instruction. I have learned extensive Reading skills that promote vocabulary enhancement.
