A Little Bit About Me...

I was a teaching assistant at North Georgia College and State University for three years. I assisted with laboratory sections of biology courses and taught them in the event of a professors absence. I provided department funded tutoring services during that time as well. I have taken the GRE and Biology Section of the GRE and received excellent scores on both tests in only one sitting. I have also coached 4H horse quiz bowl and horse judging teams for several years working with elementary and middle school age children.

As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Wesleyan University in 2008. I earned a 3.64 GPA and was a college basketball player and member of the cross-country team. I tutored my teammates in English, Algebra, and Speech. I made 4.0 grades in most of my English classes. I wrote countless research papers and essays. I also completed one semester of law school at the University of South Carolina in 2009. I was also a volunteer Guardian ad litem for Pickens County from June 2008 until January 2010.
