Master Social Studies Teacher

I have been teaching for several years at the High School and University level. I have extensive experience with community college students and students who require extra prep for college level classes. I currently teach at Tallahassee Community College. I have taught at Florida State as well. In 2006 I taught in London and in Paris for FSU. I have traveled quite a bit and can add those experiences to the classroom.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe everyone will respond well to individualized instruction when the tutor studies the student's learning style and offers the information in the form best suited to each learner. I am patient and encouraging with students. I work hard to find ways to present a subject so that each learner will find it interesting.
I am the author of five historical novels and a number of articles, poems and short stories. I occasionally do short “residences” teaching Language Arts and Drama to special needs students in k-12 schools for VSA Arts of Florida. My graduate studies emphasized American and Tudor/Stuart History. My doctorate included a Criminal Justice minor. I regularly teach writing and grant writing seminars to adults, usually through libraries on weekends or in the evening.

I love working with children of all ages. I really like elementary age children. I have a hands-on approach to education. I want kids to get their hands into activities so that they may retain things longer. Now I do realize that not every student is hands-on. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with students in all settings, including small groups and one-to-one. My personal specialty was in one-to-one math and science tutoring.
