A Little Bit About Me...

I'm certified in both elementary general and special education. I've taught for the past 19 years. I have my masters in educational administration and will soon be a certified educational diagnostician. My favorite subjects are reading and math. I can tutor/teach writing but it's not my favorite subject. My philosophy is that every child can learn but our job as teachers is to figure out the best way to meet their learning needs. I have two teenage sons, both of whom I have tutored through pre-AP Algebra, the oldest is in pre-Calculus this year. I tend to take a holistic approach, showing "why" the student needs to know the material, and "where" it fits in with other disciplines, instead of just "how" to do it.
When I was in high school, I decided upon attending Oklahoma State University, based upon the fact that OSU sponsored a high school scholastic competition, whereas OU was only known for football. If that does not make me boring enough, I represented my school and placed 8th in the state for Algebra. Not too bad for a small middle-class parochial school.
