I love teaching and interacting with students of all ages and ability levels. I believe that each person is unique and receives information in a unique way. Tutoring should be a joint process of discovering a student's learning style and tailoring information so that the student is able to learn and thrive. I enjoy working with younger generations. I believe stimulating intelligence and creativity in younger people sometimes requires thinking outside the box. Following instructions and completing homework certainly is a priority, as that prepares for adulthood. While in college, I spent my time home from school substitute teaching through Frederick County Public Schools. After graduation from American University, I continued to substitute and in the fall of 2005 I took a part-time position at a middle school, teaching Theatre Arts and Music Performance Lab. While teaching, I began my teaching certification through the Maryland State Department of Education, where I completed a course called Inclusion: Making it Happen. I also taught dance at Dance Unlimited and Elite Feet Dance studios in addition to working at numerous children's theatre camps throughout Maryland and West Virginia.

Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipan, where I taught high school English in a private school, and seventh grade English in a public school. I presently am a certified substitute teacher in the Cumberland County, PA, public school system, where I teach almost all grade levels and subjects.
