Statement of Teaching Philosophy for Teaching Writing I think that teaching writing should be both fun and educational. If you do not have the fun aspect in it you can lose students and not reach others. I believe it is important to be a positive model for my students. I want my students to know that what they write can be perfected and publishable. I want them to know that they never have to feel as if they are not good enough even if they do not know exactly how to get the words they want to say out. All it takes is practice. Even using a voice recorder to record your thoughts and getting feedback on those thoughts can make writing the best it can be. I, personally, have never taught a class. As a recent graduate of a private liberal arts institution with a degree in Medieval and Early Modern Studies and a concentration in pre-medical courses, I have a diverse and extensive understanding in several areas of study, both in the humanities and the sciences. I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I like to work with the parent and child on any goals they have for the year, while updating the parent and child on progress, problems, and behavior.

I have had an extensive career in business. I have had a number of accounting/finance positions in the business world. My most successful position was with a chain of 30 Hallmark stores. I started as the accountant and eventually became the President of the company. I have had other positions as Controller and Accountants of other businesses.
I would be able to instruct children with the basics and also explain how these basic concepts are used and why they are important in a real environment. My goal would be to get my students excited about their future and impress upon them that they can achieve anything they desire with hard work.

I have been very successful in academics throughout my education. I was valedictorian of my high school, and I received the top honors in English, French, and Accounting. I also maintained a 4.0 average throughout my college education.
I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I love working with children. I believe that children tend to learn best through repetition and making the experience fun. I like to work with flashcards and other such methods. If you take the time with a child they will eventually pick up on what you are trying to teach them. However, there are methods such as acronyms that can be used as well.
