My comments on tutoring Saxophone : Music studio offering clarinet, saxophone, flute, trumpet, and recorder lessons taught by the Principal Clarinetist of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra.

For the past twenty years, Dimitry has been teaching students of all ages to play the clarinet, saxophone, flute, trumpet, and recorder. Students will learn proper techniques, posture, breathing, phrasing, articulation, tone, rhythm, sight reading, solfeggio, music theory, and music history. They will also learn to play solos (with and without accompaniment), as well as duets (along with the instructor). Private lessons are customized to meet each student's goals, such as preparation for regional and state band auditions, concerts, and other music competitions.

I am in my third year studying music education at The College of New Jersey. Currently, I am studying with Kathleen Mitchell, the Principal Second Saxophone with Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia since 1994. (http://music.pages.tcnj.edu/mitchell-kathleen/) I have been actively taking lessons, studying, and performing saxophone pedagogy for +10 years. I have given numerous performances during my collegiate career and have an extensive knowledge of diverse saxophone and woodwind repertoires. In addition to solo performances, I perform regularly with The College of New Jersey’s premier saxophone quartet and wind ensemble. I am highly proficient on the instruments and can give lessons on all saxophones, baritone, tenor, alto, and soprano. I make an effort to attend saxophone conferences, symposiums, and performances as often as possible. I was able to attend the 2014 North American Saxophon ... read more

I am a firm believer that every student has a unique way of learning. Every student is different and therefore no student should be taught the same. In my classroom I intertwine the works of Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence with Dewey's Constructivism to create an interactive learning environment. It is a goal of mine to allow each student to show their ability in the best manner that they can. Through the philosophy I teach by, I feel I reach each student to address their own unique abilities and skills. During the course of my studies I have come across a quote that as a teacher I live by, "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
I have had various experiences from Pre-K through the middle school age, with a strong concentration in Language Arts at the primary level. I am Elementary School certified K-8 and I am Highly Qual ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I am a successful graduate of Susquehanna University, having earned a BA in International Studies. This study of cultural anthropology allowed me ample experience with writing, grammar, and research. I will be attending Rutgers University next year to earn a Master of Science degree in Microbiology. I am very experienced in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Math on all levels. In addition to my devotion to the sciences, I have maintained an advanced-conversational level of fluency in French and an ability in the creative arts through coursework at the collegiate level and would be able to teach those as well.
As a student who has dabbled in so many areas, it is easy for me to assess when a teacher/professor is not explaining a concept in a method that helps the students. I have previous experience tutoring, but my teaching talent comes from my role as the unofficial tutor for ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I was trained academically at PAFA to draw and paint still life, landscape, the human figure but as a child, my Mother introduced me to painting in the tub with newsprint taped to walls, with tempra paint in baby food jars to express myself. I love teaching young children but have worked with all ages, from tots to elders. I believe in teaching the process so that it is an experience of discovery and I provide a constructivist approach to learning, providing building blocks of information in lessons that provide tools for a strong foundation. I believe in teaching people how to learn and how to think.
As a Graduate of The University of Pennsylvania,I was driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. Later, I attended PAFA as Graduate School, which is one of the finest art schools in the country. As a professional Artist, I gained business experience, while teaching a ... read more
