A Little Bit About Me...

I have danced since the age of five. From the age of fifteen until the start of my college career I competed nationally in jazz and tap dance. . I also worked professionally as a dancer for Theatre West Virginia. Since completing my Dance degree from UNC-Greensboro I have concentrated primarily on modern dance techniques, yoga, choreography, and performance.
I am extremely patient and understanding. Being a yoga instructor has increased my skills in observing the body and addressing specific movement related needs.

I am a Dance teacher, choreographer and performer as well as a Yoga instructor. I've been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for about 10. I received a Bachelor's in Dance from Brigham Young University in 2011, with an emphasis in Modern/Contemporary. Since graduating I've been teaching, choreographing and dancing professionally and will continue doing so for as long as is humanly possible. I teach mostly Intermediate/Advanced level tap, jazz, modern/contemporary (but am open to teaching all levels) and Beginner/Intermediate level ballet. I also teach Vinyasa Yoga and believe any type and level of dancer can improve tremendously physically and mentally through a Yoga practice. And, lastly, I play the piano on the side and have taught beginner level piano. I have 17 years of experience playing the piano and play for the children at church as well as the choir.

I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I have participated in an after-school tutor/mentor program at Appalachian State in 2008. In 2009, I completed two internships while in the Education Program. One working with 2nd grade students and the other with 5th grade students. I have also taken many courses to understand context and teaching strategies in all subject areas.
I believe that children must be engaged in the subject matter before successful learning takes place. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from North Carolina State University, I began to apply and share the value of learning and education with my community. I developed an edible schoolyard curriculum and garden that integrated math, science, and social studies as part of the core curriculum. The elementary students were highy enthusiastic in the opportunity to engage in this experiential approach to education.
