I am a doctoral candidate finishing up my third year in the Department of French and Italian at The Ohio State University. My major is French, with a specialization in second language acquisition (SLA), and secondary specializations in modern French culture and French cinema. In addition to my studies, I also teach French within the Department. In my five years of experience, I have taught the first four levels of French, in addition to intensive versions that combine two of the levels together. While I have not tutored academically in the past, I have taught my community's equivalent of the DARE program to fourth grade classes for two years and have also taught art lessons to children of all ages.
I feel very strongly that every child has the ability to learn when they are given the right encouragement. While working on my Japanese minor I quickly discovered that finding a method that works for an individual student is the most important part of studying productively. While I was working on my Bachelors degree I worked at the college as an accountant. I turtored fellow classmates on subjects they were having problems with and I also tutored children in grade school who needed assistance. I am very good with math, english, public speaking and history.
