Whenever I have been recruited to help someone in the past I have been a firm beleiver in less is more. Though it is important for the person to understand what he/she is reading or writing it is important to shadow their work instead of smothering them. I always feel for both myself and others that learning comes from doing and trying by ones self, and asking for help only when needed. As a teaching major, I did my student teaching during my last semester of college (in kindergarten and third grade). This was in the spring of 2008. The next fall (2008), I was a substitute teacher for 4 months and then I was hired as a preschool teacher (in January of 2009). I taught as a preschool teacher for 10 months and then went back to substitute teaching (in October 2009) and have been substitute teaching since then. These experiences have taught me how to teach a variety of grade levels (from preschool to 5th grade). My goal is to obtain a full time teaching job and want to do whatever I can until I get one.
