I hold a Bachelors degree from Eastern Oregon University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English Discourse. I have been employed by the Redmond School District at the elementary level for the past 3 years as a reading instructor. I work with small groups, Kindergarten through third grade to help each student improve in all areas of reading. I asses each students progress before moving onto the next concept. I have also worked at Sylvan Learning Center as a tutor and tutored students in all areas needed. I mainly worked with the younger kids, no older than 8th grade. I have been working with children since obtaining my teaching degree in 1981. My experience has given me the expertise to work with a variety of children, manage a classroom, work well with others and deal with parents effectively. I have worked as a Special Education teacher in an autism program, been a substitute teacher in various elementary schools and a Director/Teacher in four preschool and childcare centers. A Little Bit About Me...

My professional experience includes teaching remedial reading, private tutoring of elementary level students, volunteering as an adult literacy tutor, and teaching English as a second language. I also home schooled my three children, teaching each to read when they could not learn in school. My children are all now in college, the eldest studying for his Master's at Boston University. I believe I can teach anyone of any age to read and write effectively.
