Having earned degrees in PE, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics I have a strong science background in subjects such as Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Kinetics, Biomechanics, Cellular Biology, Physics and Chemistry. In turn many of these subjects require knowledge of advanced mathmatical formulas and statistics. Therefore I am also very strong in math. I have earned a bachelors degree (BS in Biology) and I have excelled in my classes. I have taken 2 semesters of both general chemistry and organic chemistry. After performing at a high level in these courses, I ended up tutoring students in organic chemistry for about 2 semesters. Since I am currently studying for the MCAT exam (Medical College Admissions Test) my organic chemistry knowledge is fresh.
I am able to effectively relate/teach to people from different age groups, educational backgrounds, etc. My professor/mentor (Dr. Larry Hanne) has complimented on my ability to take complicated or difficult concepts and simplify them and then present them in a understandable way. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been an elementary school teacher for nearly 18 years. I taught for 7 years in Elk Creek and 10 years in Los Molinos where I currently teach 2nd and 3rd grade. I earned Glenn County Teacher of the Year in 1998 and Tehama County Teacher of the Year in 2007. I was also named Glenn County Teacher of the Week for Channel 7 News in 1999. From 1992 to 1996 I trained in study skills for the History and Geology departments at Chico State through the Equity Services Office. This included a 3 hour training session each week in addition to tutoring individually and in groups for struggling college students. This was 4 of the greatest years ever! I do a demonstration while I lecture on a particular point, i.e., perspective, form, light, color theory, etc., then let them have time to execute a given assignment in class. At this point I give them personal attention. I have a "critque" at the end of the session and have them participate.
