While completing my BBA and MA degrees at Wichita State University, I worked for Student Support Services, a TRIO program located on campus. For eight years I tutored low-income and first generation university students serviced by the program. By utilizing innovative tutoring techniques, I achieved a high success rate. In fact, several of my students graduated from university with honors, a goal initially thought to be unachievable. Statistics have revealed that only thirty three percent of students graduate from university, a dismal situation to say the least. I have a passion for education. I am a lifelong learner that loves getting my student excited about learning. This is often easier said than done. Through instruction in my teaching program and field experiences I have learned how to motivate students, address various types of intelligences, convey knowledge of my content area, and find lessons to best fit the needs of my students to help them actively learn.
