B-boy style by the mile!!!!

I have breakdancing since '98. I have competed and won many battles both alone and with my old breakdancing crew. I have taught an all ages class successfully for one year and a middle school class for another single year. I have done choreography and am very proficient in innovating and creating new moves. I can do: flips (front and back), power-moves i.e. windmills, flare, 1990's, 2000's, and more, and many different styles of footwork! I can also assist you with regular modern hip-hop moves as well.
My teaching style is definitely more of a facilitator/demonstrator style where I show and teach you the moves step by step then encourage you (the peer) to learn, search, and practice independently.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher's-assistant for children ages 4-6 I have been able to gain experience working with them one on one and in whole groups for almost two years. This has taught me the value of identifying with the child's unique learning needs in order to encourage and drive their academic success. I believe children need patience from their tutors, steady encouragement, and to be in a positive environment that allows them to feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn without distraction. The importance of good and fun learning early on is so vital to children, and I believe it is our duty as adults to encourage this on a daily basis.

My philosophy on teaching is not centered just on the concept at hand, but rather on the goal of helping the student develop the skills to expand on that concept and apply them to other problems. When I tutored other college students at the UW, I helped my students explore topics from every possible angle we could think of so that the student can fully develop a solid grasp of that topic, and lay down the foundations needed to be able to apply that learning and understanding to other situations and problems. Thus, even with a limited set of practice problems, I believe that with the right approach, a student can learn to work their way through an unlimited set of problems, given the proper tools and a solid foundation on a subject.
