My comments on tutoring Spanish : Taught Spanish for grades 7 - 8 as a substitute teacher at Van Wyck Jr. High School from February to March 2014. Dual citizen of Spain and the United States. Studied at the Universidad Alcala de Henares in Madrid, Spain during the summer of 2007.

I was a substitute teacher for Wappingers Central School district from April 2013 to June 2014. I taught grades 6 - 12 for a variety of subjects including, but not limited to Social Studies, Spanish, English, Music, and Special Education. One particular position I held was that I was a substitute Spanish teacher at Van Wyck Jr. High School teaching grades 7 - 8 from February to March 2014. As a musician, before moving to the area, I was on the Executive Board of American Federation of Musicians Local 238 - 291. I have been playing French horn for 16 years and guitar for 13 years.

Spanish and History Major

I taught Pre-K for 1 year and Kindergarten for 1 year as well. The experience was wonderful and I enjoyed lesson planning, making props, teaching the children new things based on different themes and subjects. I was in a technical school for 3 years where I earned a certificate in Early Child hood Education and management.

A Little Bit About Me...

In 2006 I was at my final step of reaching my BA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English with only having left to complete my student teaching, but was taken by another opportunity. I moved to Japan and teach ESL and ESOL for almost 3 complete years. I taught from all ages two to adults, and learned many new skills, instruction and classroom management techniques, a new language and different ways to engage students in lessons. Most of my teaching and tutoring has been in the field of English from basic grammer skills to Chaucer. I have currently passed and am awaiting my NYS certificate as a teaching assistant and currently work in local schools as a substitute teacher. I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I think that with the right guidance and put in the right environment, anyone can learn. I look forward to being that "right guidance."
