Since receiving my teaching certificate in English from the state of California in 1985, I have been employed as a Guest Teacher within Tracy, Ca.; Stockton, Ca.; Modesto, Ca.; Turlock, Ca.; and, currently, in Prescott Valley, Az. I am frequently requested as a guest teacher at Glassford Hill Middle School in Prescott Valley and have served as a long-term guest teacher for English classes on numrous occasions.
As I am a very auditory/visual learner, I tend to to lean towards both auditory and visual techniques. I question the students as to what he or she intended to say in their writing, what is the intent of the paper--will this persuade the reader, inform the reader, compare/contrast ideas-- and see if the writer is in fact accomplishing this goal through effect word choices, sound reasoning, specific examples, and other components of writing. As a former paraprofessional with a Master's Degree in Social Work I have worked with kids in the past behaviorally and academically. I have a solid grasp of English, Grammar, Social Studies, and Mathematics.
I enjoy working with children of all ages. I feel my career in social work has allowed me to become more centered on compassion as a means of education, and engaging the child in the learning process while being compassionate.
