I have worked hard to obtain my duel certification in elementary/special education. I began teaching just months after graduation and have learned a lot of knowledge and commpassion for educations and the learning process. I have taught both general and special education students and feel that I would be a great tutor to any student in need of reaching their potential.
My passion for teaching children is immense. I feel that each child has a unique way of learning and is able to reach their full potential through different avenues of learning. I am energetic, encouraging, and patient - all qualities that will further enhance any student's learning career.

A Little Bit About Me...

All children are diverse learners. All children learn differently, and no two are alike. Good instruction includes fitting the lesson according to the learner. Tutoring a child who is a book learner is different than a child who needs visuals or manipulatives. Some children need academics tied into real life experiences. My teaching style includes designing instruction according to individual student needs in order to enhance their learning. I am a patient teacher and believe that all children are capable of great success if given the right tools and formatted instruction.
As a certified teacher I taught for 3 years in inner city Phoenix. I worked with diverse cultures needing strong literary support. I graduated from Mansfield University with a BS degree in Elementary Education with honors. I taught a temporary position in third grade (all subject areas), then was asked by the school superintendent to substitute teach in Junior and Senior High School, and Special Education classes, which I did for four more years before I had to move out-of-state for my ex-husband's job. I just spent the last 15 years working for the NYS Dept. of Corrections in many areas. I gained much experience in all aspects of office work, including computers, writing, people skills, reports, counseling, math,etc. I am currently retiring, and would like a part-time position for added income while I attend college part-time. Florida Writes is an assessment of writing proficiency which incorporates the assessment of higher order skills, since students are required to generate and develop the ideas that form the basis for their written responses. Looking for help? Select a tutor today. Beginning in 2010, each essay was scored by one rater. In previous years, two raters were used and the scores were averaged. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible. Additionally, beginning in 2010, each student within the same grade level was required to write an essay using the same mode of writing (narrative, expository, or persuasive).
