A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored GED students in math for most of the last ten years. Most of the tutoring was in a classroom, but some of it was private tutoring. Also I have tutored junior high students in Algebra 1 for two years. I have tutored fifth grade students in math for two years. Many students have indicated that they thought I explained concepts well. Also for two years I taught as a teaching assistant in the General Biology labs at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Now it is October, 2020. I have now done 4 years of tutoring at a local Columbia community college. Most of it has been in math, college algebra, and pre-calculus.

As soon as it was a possibility, I integrated more advanced math courses into my schoolwork. I recently completed my BS in Mathematical Sciences at Westminster College. Since 7th grade, friends ordinarily looked to me for assistance with homework in the math subjects in which they struggled and I often excelled. In addition to helping my fellow students, I completed the high school A+ program, requiring 50 hours of unpaid tutoring. I reached this goal spending one year tutoring a 2nd grade class in their general studies and the other year with a 4th grade class. Throughout all of my academic career, I have never been paid for helping other students-my friends-with their homework. Yet, I have still done it when they asked. In high school, I usually helped the struggling athletes, even though I too was an athlete; this continued in college. In sophomore year of college, I was the peer teacher in Stephens Success class, where I helped students with various issues.
