I am currently in my first year teaching in Indianapolis. I am a licensed Biology teacher although I have a strong math and science background. I would love to have an opportunity to work with students on a one-on-one basis. I believe that students need guidance and structure in order to reach their highest potential. In the classroom, instruction can only be differentiated so much. Individual tutoring would allow me the chance to really meet a student at their level and understand their learning style.

I have had a very large variety of teaching experiences. During my teaching practicums at Indiana State University, I was able to teach a number of subjects. I taught in the areas of science, math, social studies, and English. I was able to teach math and social studies to a gifted and talented 2nd grade classroom. I was able to assist in all areas in a mild to moderately disabled classroom. I was able to teach English at the high school level to mild to moderately disabled students. I was able to teach science to 1st and 6th grade students. I was able to work as a reading specialist to students grades K-1st. I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept. I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I believe that it is important to know how the child learns to be able to present the material to them in the best manner for them which is what I would base my style on.
