Biology is one of my top subjects!

I have worked in the lab of a major hospital in Lincoln for 5 years, previous to receiving my degree. I am currently working as a DNA extraction and analysis technician at a genomics lab in Lincoln, NE. Also, I am in the midst of obtaining my Masters Degree in Curriculum Instruction of all Natural Sciences. I will graduate in May with my Masters and my teaching certification. Right now I am student teaching Anatomy and Physiology.
I am a kinesthetic, visual learner and that is how I like to teach. I was not one of those students who could hear a concept once and apply the it the next second with total understanding. I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.
I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. My teaching style varies with skill level. Some children need reinforcement schedules while others just need help puting their foot in the right direction. I let my students know that learning is a team effort, instilling that they are not in this alone and that their success is exciting for myself as well.
