My comments on tutoring GMAT : I tutor the math portions of the test - the quantitative section and integrated reasoning. We review necessary math skills, and strengthen fundamentals so you are equipped for the data sufficiency questions, and I give you the tools needed to quickly arrive at answers without the calculator. I teach a way to read the word problems to correctly set up the question being asked. We work on timing as well, making sure you are solving only enough of the problem to answer the question. I have two daughters, two years apart, but only one grade apart. They both do very well academically and embrace the process of learning. At home we focus more on learning and how to search for answers than on simple memorization. I have found that this has given Emma and Claudia an advantage over their peers, as neither are "hung up" on what they remember, but focus on how to use what they've learned and to apply it as a tool in learning increasingly challenging and rewarding concepts.
