I am a Graduate Student at San Diego State University obtaining my Masters in Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering while working full time as an engineer for a private firm. I graduated from San Diego State University in 2011 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, after switching from Aerospace Engineering, and 2 minors in Physical World Geography and World History. I enjoy tutoring/teaching, and can give students a very real perspective of the current teaching methodologies and subject matter. I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. Students are empowered when they learn from their experience and begin to flourish in themselves. At university, my enthusiasm for the outdoors lead me to the arts. I took a particular interest in poetry and short stories and immersed myself in literary life at UCSD. I was often asked to facilitate writing workshops and discussion groups, and in doing so I've found tutoring to come quite naturally to me.
