A Little Bit About Me...

It has been my experience that each student has his/her individuals needs and that each learns differently. Thus, I make a conscious effort to sit down privately with each of my students so that we can address his/her concerns effectively and put together a constructive plan to improve his/her skill set.
As a tutor with Webster University's student literacy corps, I worked with individuals, pre-K-adult, on reading, literacy, and writing skills. I held this position for two years along with a summer position tutoring Algebra and French with HEC Upward Bound, which service at-risk youth. I found both programs extremely enjoyable and found that all of my students were eager to learn and improve their skill set.

I have 24 years of teaching experience in grades 7-12. These experiences have been at public and private school settings. The subjects I have taught include various levels of mathematics, physical science, American history, world history, Spanish and physical education. In addition, I have tutored students periodically during this time span, mostly in mathematics. I have also tutored adults on occasion.
As an educator, especially in mathematics, I want my students to not just arrive at the right answer, but understand the process, as well. I want students to have a solid foundation in number theory. Since I have been coaching, I knew that I wanted to continue with passing on my knowledge to others. I believe that through teaching the passing of my knowledge can be most rewarding.
