A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergrad, I excelled in the arts, history and social science courses. However, I lacked interest in math (I didn't get it) and failed college algebra two times! My goal was to graduate college and I decided to seek help. I came across the tutoring center on campus and found a tutor that changed my perception about math! In brief, my tutor was out going, patient and tried various techniques to help me learn the material. I passed college algebra with an "A"! I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor in Physical Science from California State University, Fresno. I received my first teaching experience as a substitute teacher. I next worked as a long-term substitute teacher for a year. I was then offered a full-time, permanent teaching position as a fourth grade elementary school teacher. This position lasted three years. I will never forget the joy I received each time one of my students learned something that they had been struggling with for some time. With every management position that I have had (Controller, Finance Director, VP of Finance), I have had to train assistants along with other accounting office personnel. The level of experience would exceed 25 years.
I believe in working aside the individual, explain a task to them, and let them do the work. I would offer assistance when asked or when I saw a problem. This would always depend on the individual that I was training. I have also worked as a Junior Achievement instructor which required even closer scrutiny with the student and a greater level of patience.
