In the years prior to high school I struggled with math but I had a few excellent teachers (my mother included) that lifted my confidence and taught me that I can achieve my goals through perseverance, encouragement and mentoring. I realized that math is simply a step-wise pattern of correctly followed operations. I feel that a tutor should focus on command, connection and clarity. A tutor must have excellent command of the subject material if they are to improve a student's understanding. A tutor must try to make a connection with his student for progress to be made. Finally, a tutor must be able to instruct with clarity if the student is to succeed. I strive to bring these three things to each session that I tutor.
As both a teacher and a student, I have developed my knowledge of the many branches of mathematics. Over the past eight years I have instructed students in large groups, one on one, and online.
