Marine Biology is one of my top subjects!

My style of tutoring is creative flexibility. I assess the student's learning style and try to adapt to that, using different senses (kinetic, aural, oral) to trigger best responses. However, this is layered over a basic multi-part structure suited to the subject. I also like to set up a schedule of what our hour will be like, with some beginning exercises (usually recall from previous session). The rest of the hour would be structured with student input as much as possible. At the end, I like to introduce some free time to talk about the lesson and about any new ideas.

A Little Bit About Me...

My professional background is primarily in marine mammal behavioral biology. I have 10 years field experience studying whale and dolphin habitat use, foraging behavior, and human interaction occurances. I also have a strong background in terrestrial wildlife conservation and natural resource policy. I am a Phi Theta Kappa life member as well as a member of the Ecological Society of America (ESA). My two-year degrees gave me a strong background in both English and Humanity studies. It was during my early education at a community college where I discovered tutoring and joy of helping others find their potential.
I enjoy helping others and thereby learning about myself in the process. I believe my teaching style revolves around communication, compassion, and finding the best way for the student to grasp the lesson or idea presented. I feel that everyone has their own way of c ... read more

As a substitute teacher, I have developed my teaching skills and became able to adapt to the different educational level, schools, communities etc. From my professional experience, I learned to be a team leader, to focus on the delegated task, to prioritize and to reward results.
I am a parent and I understand that educating our children is a priority. Although challenging, I particularly enjoy working with children, teaching them as well as learning from them. I believe that what makes me a good teacher is my ability to listen, understand a child's outlook on things and my constant focus ... read more
