A Little Bit About Me...

First, in order for the students to best understand the material, I break it down to their level. For subjects like math, it is simple to develop a step by step method for the students to write down and follow. Once the students have mastered the steps they are motivated to continue with the material because it seems straightforward. It is also important to have the students connect to the material; if they understand how the information is used in every day life then they will become more excited and motivated to learn. Once the students have a firm understanding of the information, they are assigned independent problems. These problems will help the students begin to think on their own and in turn own the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from high school as number eleven in rank out of 248. I often assisted other students in both high school and college. Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipan, where I taught high school English in a private school, and seventh grade English in a public school. I presently am a certified substitute teacher in the Cumberland County, PA, public school system, where I teach almost all grade levels and subjects. I have worked with children for as long as I can remember. When I entered college I knew right away what major I wanted, Elementary Education. During college breaks I would work at the local daycare. There I worked with a variety of ages. The last year of college I worked with disadvantaged, at-risk students. I tutored them in reading and math during the school year. In the summer I was their summer school teacher. I graduated with my master’s degree in education from Radford University in 2007. I immediately found a job teaching kindergarten.
