School is my passion and my goal is to help students reach their maximum potential. It has been my experience that students often dislike subjects in which they do not excel. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a pragmatic, conscientious, enthusiastic and energetic team-player, believing passionately in empowerment and particularly enjoy supporting others in their personal and professional development and the achievement of their full potential. My teaching style can be described as student-centered and experiential. The relationship between student and tutor needs to be one of confidence, trust and understanding – this is crucial to the learning experience. I believe learning needs to be fun and enjoyable and that this leads to greater chances of success. I have worked as an ESL tutor and mentored a student with learning difficulties.

As I am still a student myself, I bring a slightly unique perspective to tutoring. I know and appreciate the importance of a compelling instructor, who is both enthusiastic and intelligent, but also patient and understanding. I love the sciences, but I have not been working in the field for so long as to not remember the frustration most students feel when first grasping the founding principles. I strongly believe that learning is best facilitated through problem solving rather than rote memorization, especially within the sciences. Asking questions is far more important than answering them, and engendering a genuine interest in learning is paramount above all else.
As a graduating senior in the Honors College of The Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Chemistry, I am surrounded by opportunities for both learning and teaching. While I complete the last semester of my degree, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

What tools I use in the classroom really depends on the student's learning style and course material. Some individuals learn by performing tasks, while others learn by reading or hearing the material to be learned. I use a variety of methods depending on the course such as: PowerPoint, Internet, Lectures, Whiteboard, Student Presentations, and individuals within the community to discuss their current views on health care and their roles in Medical Billing/Coding.

A Little Bit About Me...

As part of the requirement to be a member of Pi Delta Phi, the French National Honor Society at UCF, I was required to tutor French students of all levels on a regular basis. Learning a foreign language not only taught me French, but also gave me a new understanding of English. Being an instructional designer for the Military for six years, I can learn any subject in a short period of time (I write lessons on a new subject on a weekly basis). I have excellent writing and editing skills due to writing lessons every day. While my tutoring experience is somewhat limited, my teaching experience is vast, ranging from language, grammar, and writing to first aid, weapons, and various engineering tasks.
I have a genuine interest in the success of people. I am flexible and am willing to adapt to accommodate the student's learning style. Teaching is like a puzzle to me. I approach each stude ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from high school as number eleven in rank out of 248. I often assisted other students in both high school and college. Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipan, where I taught high school English in a private school, and seventh grade English in a public school. I presently am a certified substitute teacher in the Cumberland County, PA, public school system, where I teach almost all grade levels and subjects. I far prefer private tutoring over formal teaching, as I believe my abilities are put to their greatest use in that setting. I absolutely love working with students one-on-one. It's what I do best.
Because of my experience in teaching my own children, I have discovered that no child is too young to learn. Often people will not consider an infant or to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

All of my previous students would describe me as fun, loving, and patient. I am an extremely upbeat and energetic teacher as well as person. I think the best way to teach children is by making learning fun and exciting. I try my hardest to implement that into each lesson I cover. I truly believe each and every child can learn, and with that mentality they do. It is crucial for each child to feel successful. A child will become more invested in school and work harder if he/she has a teacher that cares and loves them. I let each and every one of my students know that I am their biggest fan! I know that having a teacher that believes in you can make a world of difference.
I have worked with children for as long as I can remember. When I entered college I knew right away what major I wanted, Elementary Education. During college breaks I would work at the local daycare. Ther ... read more
