After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : Writing Process

I was a teaching assistant throughout high school. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi. I was selected to teach intensive intervention and pursued my Master’s degree with a concentration in remedial reading. During the past four years I have taught 2nd-adult English Language Learners and tutored K-adult students in all disciplines.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style focuses on modeled and guided discussions so that students can talk through their understanding so I can remediate and reteach to ensure that they are learning and they find confidence in their learning.

Good High school student looking to make money,

i usual do hands on activity because personally that's how i learn best. i am able to adapt to the way the chld learns best tho. Also i have experience with special ed children and am willing to work with them.
I am a high schooler with good grades. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : past instructor positions in creative writing

I have a wealth of experience with ages 5 through adult in multiple areas of turoring both academic and extra curricular such as dance. I have coordinated educational and arts programs as a Program Director of a Boys and Girls Club & Arts Academy as well assisted individuals one on one in after school and day programs. I also have experience with individuals with disabilities and behavioral problems and obtained a minor in Behavioral Healthcare through the Univ. of South Florida.
When teaching I often utilize imagery and visuals to aide in comprehension. In all cases I asses the individual's learning style and apply strategies complimentary to that style.
